Nurse Delegation

Thank you for your interest in Nurse Delegation Training from CayCare!  We offer state-approved training for Nurse Delegation Core Training and Nurse Delegation Special Focus on Diabetes.  This training is well suited to fit into your busy schedule.

What is Nurse Delegation?  Washington State law requires that a caregiver be delegated prior to performing certain tasks that otherwise would only be performed by a medical professional.  Most Adult Family Homes and many In Home Care agencies require that a nursing assistant desiring employment by them, have their nurse delegation certificate.

How long are the certificates good for?  There is no expiration date of these certificates. They also count towards your continuing education (CEU).

What classes are offered? Nurse Delegation Core Training enables nursing assistants to perform tasks such as giving medications, performing non-sterile dressing changes, etc.  Nurse Delegation Special Focus on Diabetes is required for any nursing assistant that will be giving insulin.

What does the class entail? The class consists of a digital workbook & videos that you can complete at your leisure. After each section of the class you are given a Quiz. Once all quizzes are completed, you are ready to take the test.

How do I go about taking the class?  You will need to contact our office at 253-777-3804 and schedule a time to register for the class and receive the nurse delegation training tools via email. Once you are ready to take the class, call our office to set up a time to take the test.  The test is taken and monitored in our office. It typically takes about half an hour to complete.  You must receive a score of 80% or better to pass. Once you have passed the test, you are issued a certificate.

When and where are classes held?  You choose when and where you take the class!  You will need to pay for the test prior to receiving the nurse delegation training tools and come into our office to take the test.

What is the fee?  Each class is $75.00.  You will need to pay for the class prior to receiving the nurse delegation training tools.

Do I have to have a current nursing assistant license in order to take the class?  No, the class is open to anyone wanting to take it.  However, you will not be able to perform delegated tasks without a valid nursing assistant/home care aid license.

What if I lose my certificate? You will receive a physical certificate after passing your test. You may also request to receive a copy of your certificate, free of charge, via fax or email the day of your test. If you need a replacement certificate there is a $10.00 Charge.

For replacement certificates: Please call in advance of coming in so your replacement certificate can be ready for you to pick up.
